Amazing Travel Destinations In California

by Editor on June 8, 2013

Still haven’t planned on where to go for the summer holiday? Don’t worry. You still have time! If you are in for several travels to and fro cities though, then California will be the perfect place for you! California is a huge state, filled with everything from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood to the natural beauty of the shore line.  Whether you’re planning an intimate getaway or a family outing, there is something for everyone in California.  Here are two destinations to consider when you head out to the Golden State.

San Diego

Along the California shore and sandwiched between Los Angeles and Tijuana, resides the city of San Diego.  This is a great destination for couples, as it is packed with natural beauty and breathtaking scenery.  You could spend a whole day in the car here and unlike other parts of California –packed with traffic– you’d love it!  There is a scenic drive that you can spend an entire day enjoying that provides you with many of the sights of the area.  After spending a day in the car, you could divide up the rest of your week into different nature settings for each day.

One of the most beautiful parts of San Diego is La Jolla Cove.  You can spend the day lying out in the sun or splashing around in the water, bodysurfing or scuba diving.  Be sure to stick around to watch the sunset here though, as it is one of the most breathtaking settings to view it in.  Also in La Jolla is Mount Soledad.  You can drive up the side of it for an amazing view of San Diego and the shore from the top.  Finally, there’s Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, a great destination for any nature lover.  How many opportunities do you get to camp out in the desert on less than a day’s drive from civilization?

Whereas San Diego is rich in natural beauty, Monterey is rich in arts, music, and history.   This is not to say that the landscape there is suffering in any way.  Quite the contrary – every morning you wake up there and step outside, you’ll wonder why you aren’t living there.  Rather than stay in a hotel, this is an area that you should consider immersing yourself in.  With Monterey vacation rentals, you can surround yourself with a comfortable place to stay at night while being in the middle of all that Monterey affords you in entertainment.  It’s a different experience for your vacation, with a very domestic charm to it all.

If you are a patron of the arts, the Museum of Monterey is a wonderful place to start your trip around town.  Home to a lovely display of the arts, this is a wonderful place to learn more about maritime history.  If you have children with you, consider the Monterey Bay Aquarium or Dennis the Menace Park.  Cannery Row is another wonderful part of town to explore local history and enjoy some shopping.  Finally, there are some wonderful wineries in the area to explore.  California produces some of the best wine in the world, so be sure to try a few glasses while you are there.
